Whilst simulated game shooting should not be seen as a replacement
for traditional driven game shooting, a day with Classic Clays is
virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. You will shoot
at unpredictable targets, launched from established game drives
set in glorious countryside. The difference? You will be shooting
at clays instead of live game.
A simulated game shoot ensures a terrific day of sporting challenges
and enjoyment, whatever the season. The day provides an excellent
form of client entertainment, giving accomplished shots and syndicates
the opportunity to brush up on their shooting skills, while offering
an ideal introduction for newcomers.
Our flexibility means that we can cater for all levels of expertise,
with our light-load cartridges ensuring that the lady shot and young
shot can enjoy the day comfortably.
The
clay traps are deployed strategically and out of sight, to send
targets randomly over the team of guns at varying heights and speeds.
Trajectories and angles are altered during the drive to ensure the
guns are kept on their toes (look out for the flash clays now and
then).
The day generally consists of four or five drives with the guns
standing in pairs on their pegs and sharing the shooting during
the drive.
The drives can be shot single gun or double gun. Single guns can
either load for themselves or have their partner 'stuff' the cartridges
for them. Double gun practice proves invaluable during the run up
to the game season.
Based in the Welsh Marches, a beautiful region along the Wales/England
border, our flagship venue is the unsurpassed Stanage
Castle.
Typical days simulated game shoot at Stanage Castle.
- Guns meet at 9.30am in front of castle for glass of Sloe Gin
and safety briefing.
- Off to the first drive of the morning amongst fabulous parkland
and rolling hills.
- Light refreshments.
- Second drive, usually a little more testing than the first
to include partridge, pheasant and an occasional woodcock.
- Lunch at the estates school house or al fresco depending on
weather.
- Third drive. A few real screamers here to work off the lunch.
- Fourth drive. Mixed drive to end the day with several unorthodox
species making up the bag.
- Relax with tea and biscuits before heading home.
Flexibility
is the key to successful simulated shooting. Classic Clays can cater
for any number of guns from 10 to 16 at the venue of your choice,
without being restricted by the seasons - a summer picnic halfway
through the day can be extremely enjoyable.
You tell us the level of hospitality you would like and we do the
rest.
Non-shooting guests are welcome and are charged a nominal fee to
cover any extra hospitality costs incurred.
We
want all our clients to have a relaxed and enjoyable day, therefore
particular attention is paid to safety and instruction.
The guns will be supervised by fully qualified and experienced
instructors who have comprehensive insurance cover.
Individual instruction can be arranged for the novice shot, who
will have hours of fun throughout the day, whilst growing in confidence
and ability.
Classic Clays provide a terrific day of sporting challenges and
enjoyment what ever the season.
